The band formed in 1995, in the midst of harcore's second full decade. Things were very different from generations prior, and Redemption 87 wanted to bring back the scene to how it was before, like in 1987 which provided inspiration for their name. During their time together, they released two LPs: a self titled album on New Age in 1996 and All Guns Poolside! on Blackout! Records in 1998.
